We wanted people across the political aisle, and people who felt represented by neither side, to have a place to listen, question, and be heard.
Today, we carry that purpose into our work as an independent media company. We tell stories about how people live, what they care about, and the decisions that affect them. We ask hard questions of people with power and listen to those living with the consequences.
Disagreement belongs here. We check claims against evidence and keep asking when an answer falls short. Bringing people together takes patience and a willingness to hear each other through difficult conversations.
We want people to enter the conversation, challenge what they hear, and have a say in what happens next.

Claims should rest on reliable evidence. When certainty is not available, the limits should be clear.

Original records, documents, and direct material should be used whenever they are available and relevant.

The work should explain events rather than merely amplify them.
04Corrections remain visible
Material errors should be corrected clearly, promptly, and without quietly rewriting the record.
05Independence is operational
Political parties, campaigns, and ideological pressure should not dictate the conclusions.
